Anyone else noticing their summer steam start to wane?
If you’re reading this after the day it’s published, it’s Monday the 28th of August, the last summer bank holiday of 2023. I don’t think I’ll be saying this come February, but this year I’m really craving the grounding energy that comes with autumn and the darker months. Although we were a little cheated in the UK when it came to weather this year, it’s been a busy ol’ time.
I struggle to slow down in the summer months. Like the longer days and gardens in full bloom, I notice this urge to always be on too. I’m looking forward to cosying up under thick blankets with a hot drink and reading for hours on end. Writing besides a flickering candle with a stew and dumplings bubbling away downstairs. Candle lit baths and rituals to romanticise the long evenings. Can you tell I’ve been thinking about this?
Anyway, coming back into the present, what I need most right now is a couple of moments sprinkled throughout the day where I pause to notice. Pause to connect back with the breath, my surrounding and what’s here right now. Appreciate late summer and the final moments before autumn…
