There’s something really special about late summer and this time of year for me. It mimics the buzz before spring. A sense of a new beginning.
Over the years it’s been easy to spot the commercial markers of different seasons creeping into our lives earlier and earlier (e.g. Quality Streets in your local supermarket as early as August!!).
This year I’m seeing this online too, my algorithm shifted in the direction of autumn excitement, and it just felt off.
Whilst I love autumn and the season feels exciting… I want to soak up late summer!
This period we’re in right now that lasts until autumn equinox (the 22nd of September). It’s a small, overlooked time of the year, but it’s truly one of my favourites.
You can feel and sense that transition, except it’s littered with gorgeous golden evenings, balmy days and blackberries and apples ready to harvest. The final push of colour and energy before things start to turn again.
It’s my soaking up time to really hone in on the joy of summer. A time for final bbq’s and dining alfresco. For wild swims while the lakes are at their warmest, for juicy tomatoes and the excitement that we’re moving into new territory, but not before just one last hurrah.
Living seasonally and noticing these subtle changes has become an anchor in my life. It brings me meaning in the world and a sense of feeling grounded and present. I want to be here, in late summer, noticing all of the changes.
So, whilst autumn is a gorgeous season full of beauty. It’s a season that can wait, just a few more weeks.
Let me know if you’re joining me in celebrating late summer 🌞

September’s Monthly Journaling Club
On Monday the 2nd of August we have the next Monthly Journaling club! The theme for next month is simplicity… I’ve already lined up some juicy prompts that I can’t wait to dig into with you!
If you’re new to it, we meet up at 8pm on Zoom at the beginning of each month for a 45 minute journaling session. We start off with a grounding meditation then move into our prompts. Some of the prompts we revisit to bring a sense of check-in and reflection, then we move into some specific, theme based questions.
You can find all of the details for the journaling club here. I’d love to see you there ❤️
Until next time,
Jodie x

This is beautiful Jodie! I truly love late summer and always feel a tinge of sadness when it’s over because I’m never quite ready to welcome the dark cold days ahead. September was always a dreaded month growing up - going back to school, leaving behind the summer and knowing the light would soon be fleeting. But in recent years I’ve been trying to embrace those transitional weeks and really lean into that time in between my favourite season and the one I’ve grown deeply fond of 🤍
perfect lake swim today!!!
