Embracing ease this summer
thoughts on honouring the season of life you're in...
Hello lovely reader,
I’m writing to you a few days after landing home from Mallorca.
I swam in the sea (and got to see my son delight in it as much as I do - pure joy). I ate plenty of tapas, drank a mojito a day and left my phone Bricked for the duration (a happy accident).
I also turned 31 whilst there, which naturally left me feeling reflective about this past year and the rest of 2026…

As I’ve documented and shared, the last 12 months have been full of change. I’m still in the midst of transition, but one thing that’s clearer to me is how important it is to follow what feels most exciting and joyful, even at the cost of what seems to typically make sense.
Even with the discomfort of challenging old beliefs, and moving away from ingrained patterns built out of safety.
I’ve been putting pressure on myself to make this season of life neat. I’ve been craving control, a clear end point and vision to strive towards.
but, I can see now, that’s not what I need in this season.
I need to follow the little nuggets of wisdom. I need to make this transition easier for myself by taking off the pressure to have all of the answers.
To relish in the joy of summer without worrying, or feeling like I’m going to be left behind for resting and slowing down.
Whilst I was Bricked for the holiday, I did have access to my Gmail app and would catch up on newsletters from fellow writers in the evenings.
This one from Carmen really got me thinking…
She makes the excellent point that it may not be so helpful to label our life transitions as the messy middle.
For the most part, I really do agree.
Making huge life changes can feel disorienting, maybe even messy at times - but it’s just a part of life!
Like the seasons we evolve, adapt, learn new things about ourselves and hopefully have the courage to step up to what’s needed each time.
This cycle continues, so really, we’re not in the middle of anything.
Life is here and now, and these moments that can feel like bridges or spaces in-between are just as valid.
Challenging my perspective has quite honestly been a relief.
The ebbs and flows of life are normal, I don’t need to panic about this stage.
Since challenging my thoughts it’s made me focus more on how much is already here for me and what I can be thankful for right now.
What feels abundant in your life?
Whether you’re in the midst of change or exactly where you thought you’d be, it’s a question to come back to time and time again.
With the season of summer in mind, I’m leaning into the “go with the flow” feeling it can bring. A quality of timelessness that comes from the perfectly warm, long days. Having a loose plan, but adapting and listening to my needs as I go. Reminding myself that there’s enough time. It’s safe to pause and soak up this season.
Love,
Jodie x

This was gorgeous to read. I’m 32 next month, and it’s been a bit of a “lost girl summer” for me so far. I’m finding that I’m outgrowing things, I’ve been in that space where it’s the end of something that’s been your identity for so long for a while now. I sprained my ankle on Thursday, and it’s obviously forced me to rest. Maybe it was a sign?
Happy belated birthday Jodie!
