Nourishing moments #1
10 things that lifted my spirits this week, and some reality bits for good measure
Welcome to the first in a brand new Slower Space series! This new weekly round up is essentially going to be a list of (to put it simply) the stuff that felt good. This is also an invitation for you to reflect on, and share anything that felt good for you too in the comments! Maybe you’ll have few things on your list that are the same as mine…
Right, let’s dive in. Also, for some reason I feel the need to point out these are in no particular order - all equally nourishing and lovely:
Upping my game when it comes to hot drinks. I live a pretty simple life, but one of my little luxuries is good tea! I’ve just ordered my favourite chai tea now it’s getting cooler, and I’ve gone back to making decaf mochas at home - a simple joy
Vinted! I really need to do a whole post on Vinted because I’m actually a little obsessed. The combination of knowing you’re buying second hand AND getting a bargain is honestly a thrill. I’ve shared my tips in this weeks vlog.
Reading this post from Chloe Plumstead. It’s been a joy to see so many creators move over to Substack and Chloe’s first post doesn’t disappoint!
On Sunday I met up with an old school friend in London. It was one of those crisp but sunny autumn days, we had a roast and then a stroll around Richmond Park - proof that the best days are often the most simple.
The Sprinkles of joy cards from Sophie Cliff! I was kindly sent these last week and (as you’ve expect) they’ve been a joy to dip in and out of.
Finally getting round to enquiring about volunteering. Admittedly this has been on my “should really do” list since January… but, I’ve signed up, the hard part is done.
Reconnecting with some old colleagues and securing some more freelance marketing work. Some zoom calls are draining, this one was an absolute delight.
Sunbeamsjess on YouTube! Jess did vlogtober and they have been the cosiest vlogs that have also helped me reconnect with reading.
My first bath of the cosy season, need I say more!
A coaching call with Sara Tasker. Being freelance has made me realise how important it is to have support from others, whether in the form of a mentor, business bestie or coaching. The call was exactly what I needed (and more)
The *not so* nourishing stuff…
You know I’m all about not sugar coating things, so this section is essentially sharing a few things I’m was struggling with what to title this section, some other options included: The *kinda annoying*, *felt quite difficult* *rather overwhelming* stuff that happened this week. Anyway, I’m using this section to simply be honest, so here goes...
Spending too much time on Instagram... I’ve realised recently my tolerance for fast paced social platforms is getting lower, what feels like by the day. I’ve mentioned it before but when my time online becomes unintentional I quickly become drained and overwhelmed. This week the balance felt off. I don’t have a solution in all honesty, but I’m working on it. If you’ve felt the same, Molly wrote a post on Instagram addiction that resonated so much with me this week ~ definitely food for thought!
Facing up to taxes and the responsibilities that come with being self employed. This emoji spring to mind 🫣 that’s me, hiding behind responsibilities and putting off the adult side of my business that I need to get in order.
Deciding what to do for Christmas this year… If you know, you know. The people pleaser in me wants to do one thing, but I know how my ideal day looks. I’ve worked to heal that part of myself but it doesn’t stop those uncomfortable feelings creeping in.
With that, I’d love to know, how’s your week been?
If you found this post useful/ enjoyed it I would be so grateful if you shared it or restacked it. It helps other people find the Slower Space community! Thank you x
Thank you so much for this round-up. A round up lover in general I very much enjoyed it. Also, the bits that felt hard. I too am struggling with Instagram in particularly and feel myself on the cusp of jumping off.
I booked a short trip to the beach this week with my best friend. The cold weather is getting to me already and I needed a little break before it gets even colder 🥶 Now I need to check out Vinted. And cozy baths are always the best!
