Hey friends,
Happy December!
I hope this lands well for you… We’re here, the final month of 2024. I haven’t done this in a while, but it feels like a good time to offer you space to take a deep breath in, sigh it out, allow your shoulders and jaw to soften and pause for a moment.
Okay, let’s get into this…
As a way to focus on the glimmers as we move through winter I wanted to bring back this nourishing moments series. So, here’s a round up of some recent nourishing moments and recommendations that have lifted my spirits!
Nourishing moments
Getting back into the habit of working from coffee shops. Despite the weather sometimes making it more difficult, I find this time of year my spirits are lifted when I work out of the house. Anyone else? I’ve got a few cosy coffee shops that have become my go-to, it’s also lovely seeing the same faces and having a little more company!
Starting the festive Harry Potter marathon. We’re in the middle of redecorating, so coming together to watch the Harry Potter films in the evening has been our chance to connect and relax. I think the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite.
Finally getting a heated blanket. I was late to the electric blanket party too, and in a similar vein it’s bringing me SO much joy to curl under and actually feel warm this time of year.
Feeling our baby moving for the first time 🥺 (they just wriggled as I typed that too). My husband’s also felt him move now too. It’s something I thought would feel strange but just doesn’t?! Such a special part of this journey that I’ll cherish forever.
Christmas crafting, without the pressure. Every year I save so many DIY’s that I then never actually get round to doing, so, I’m keeping it simple this year. I’ve done some dried oranges for a garland and made a start on a wreath but I’m taking it slow.
Reading The Bee Sting by Paul Murray. I finished this earlier in the month and it’s been one of my favourite reads of the year so far.
Going outside in our pyjamas for a snowy sunrise. It’s moments like this where I spot my inner child gleaming, it gives me that sense of enchantment I think we’re all in need of!
Staying at Blyth Rise Stays in Suffolk. Firstly, I’ve never been to this part of the UK before and it was gorgeous! We’ll definitely be heading back. We stayed in a wood cabin which was just perfection. I’ve realised over the past year that these kind of breaks are my favourite - get me somewhere in nature with good food and good company and I’m content.
Having my first mince pie of the season… Apart from my Auntie & Uncle’s homemade option, the best I’ve found so far are from the co-op specially selected range - that and a warm cup of tea, heaven.
Buying some maternity leggings from Vinted. This year Vinted has become the place I shop most, and I feel really proud of it! My most recent purchase was a pair of Nike maternity leggings for £12 - a bargain, more sustainable and the most comfortable, buttery pants I’ve been able to wear for months.

A not so nourishing moment (for a little bit of balance)
Friends, if I’m honest, I’ve been experiencing some anxiety around the fact that I’m going to be giving birth soon(ish). I feel fully informed in terms of what I *think* is the best option for me and the baby, but it’s interesting coming into a space where there’s SO many strong opinions about what’s best - it’s really testing the self confidence muscle I’ve been building over the past few years!
It’s been a while since my last midwife appointment, and I think talking to a professional and having that support is going to put so much that’s on my mind at ease, until then, I’m leaning on my Yoga practice, naps and all the calming rituals I have to soften some of the mind chatter!
I’d love to know whats been nourishing for you lately… Let me know in the comments

I’m really looking forward to this months journaling club, it’s all about boundaries and planning for a calmer, more intentional month.

Birth is completely crazy and it's luck of the draw what can happen, so while it's good to have a plan in case you can use it, whatever will be will be. Hypnobirthing helped me in the run up to stay calm (even if I didn't use it for the actual labour 😅)
The funny thing about birth is that you can have this plan of what you think is best and then it all goes out of the window. I had a home both planned with a birthing pool and ended up with an emergency c section 🤷♀️ the complete opposite to what I wanted. And all of the stuff I’d read made it feel like having a c section was the worst thing in the world and that you had somehow done something wrong if you had one. All you can do is follow what feels intuitively right for you and take other peoples opinions with a pinch of salt because everyone’s experience is so vastly different and everyone’s tolerance for uncertainty varies greatly too.
