Such a lovely piece, Jodie! Inspiring! My problem is that I live in Vermont and we are in the heart of winter - lots of snow this year, and temps in single digits fairly often! So no daffodils or lambs frolicking in the fields until May. ☹️
However. The stronger sunlight and more of it is cheering, as well as pouring over seed catalogs and trying winter sowing for the first time!!
Yesterday evening, I was taking my dog for a walk and in a bad mood because of how cold it is (we're in a cold snap with -35C temps) and I ran into a neighbour walking her dog. We both grumbled about the temp and then she said "it's so nice that there's more light though." It was such a simple observation, but totally snapped me out of my mood. Looking for those little signs in this last stretch makes such a difference. Thank you for the reminder to keep looking for those!
Since I started to pay more attention to my surroundings and the changes, this is the first February ever I’m not totally dreading.
I plan on getting outside as much as I can! We’ve had some snow here in the Netherlands, so I’m enjoying the winter scenery we don’t get as often anymore. I’m also keeping a look out for the little buds on the trees, the first snowdrops and crocuses, trying to find wild garlic in the park.. enjoying the daylight as much as possible!
But also I still want to appreciate staying in, cuddled up with a blanket and a book. This duality is actually really nice. ☺️

ahh, what are you sowing for winter? I'm hoping to do the same next year!
Same here
We feel you over in the Pacific Northwest! The gray will finally clear out around Mid June and we’ll get some much needed sun! 🌞
